Sweet and Sour Pulusu

1/2 cup pressure cooked toor dal*
1 cup cut vegetables such as gourd, pumpkin, carrots , sweet potato etc.
1/2 cup cut onion pieces(non-sathvik, optional)
1 tbsp tamarind paste*
1 inch cube jaggery*(brown sugar)
salt o taste
Poppu
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 split dry red chillies
handful curry leave
In a container, pour 3 cup of water, add vegetables, cooked toor dal, onion pieces and salt and let them cook half way through. Then add jaggery and tamarind paste and cook it all the way through.
Poppu preparation: In a small pan, add oil and when hot, add the remaining ingredients except curry leaves. When mustard seeds start popping, add curry leaves and fry till they crisp up. Add to the pulusu.
Enjoy mixed pulusu with rice.
